The Bontebok National Park is conveniently located a short distance away from Swellendam, straight over the N2, offering a perfect destination for a full day mountain bike trail or a quick game drive. It’s a haven to Bontebok, Cape Mountain Zebra, Red Hartebeest, Grey Rhebok and a multitude of birds, reptiles and smaller mammals.
Perfect for those travellers that have little time to spend, the park offers a quick circular drive with guaranteed game sitings, so remember your binoculars and camera. The park is a key refuge area for rare plant species, particularly Renosterveld, the most endangered sub-type of fynbos, with a magnificent display of flowers in the spring time. Pack a picnic and enjoy a swim in the warm Breede river, with options of angling and hikes along 2 easy trails.
