SWELLENDAM SAFARI TOURS | OVERBERG | WESTERN CAPE | SOUTH AFRICA BACKPACKERS
De Hoop Nature Reserve is one of the best kept secrets in the Overberg, the Reserve offers a full day of crowd free, secluded game viewing (we can stop anywhere we find something of interest, with options to safely leave the vehicle for a better look) a rich concentration of the worlds smallest and most threatened plant kingdom, the Cape Floral Kingdom, with fynbos being the dominant vegetation (over 34 species only grow in this reserve).
The marine protected area (especially Koppie Alleen, where we stop for lunch) is said to be the best land based whale watching are in South Africa, with over 120 individual whales coming here to calve and mate every year.
